Product Introduction

To prevent the possibility of fire or explosion inside the enclosure of energized electrical equipment, a protective gas supply is used to dilute potentially flammable materials to an acceptable level, creating a safe area for the electrical equipment within the enclosure. Positive pressure prevents the ingress of flammable materials in the surrounding atmosphere from entering into the enclosure, as long as positive pressure is maintained. This technique of preventing and protecting electrical equipment from possible fire and explosions is commonly known as purging. Purge Solutions offers a type Y&Z - Purge Indicator for monitoring electrical equipment in Division 2 and / or Zone 2 hazardous areas and three (3) different type X - Purge Controllers for monitoring and controlling power to electrical equipment in Division 1 and / or Zone 1 hazardous areas.

For Division 2 and / or Zone 2 hazardous areas Purge Solutions offers the CYCLOPS Y&Z - Purge Indicator, which monitors purge pressure in one (1) pressurized enclosure. The CYCLOPS Y&Z - Purge Indicator comes standard with a green LED visual indicator for local evidence of enclosure purge pressure, a dry-contact output for remote monitoring of enclosure pressure, and the enclosure exhaust vent, which is an integrated part of the CYCLOPS's casing. The CYCLOPS Y&Z - Purge Indicator mounts directly to the enclosure being purged. This means no additional holes, sheet metal, or plumbing is required for installation of the CYCLOPS Y&Z - Purge Indicator. If all equipment in the protected enclosure is approved for Division 2 and / or Zone 2 locations, the Cyclops Y&Z - Purge Indicator can be used for type "Y" purging.

The first type X - Purge Controller offered by Purge Solutions is the CYCLOPS X - Purge Controller for use in Division 1 and / or Zone 1 hazardous areas, which monitors purge pressure, exhaust vent flow, and controls electrical power and pre dilution purge time of one (1) pressurized enclosure. The CYCLOPS X - Purge Controller comes standard with a green and red LED visual indication for local evidence of enclosure purge pressure, dry-contact outputs for remote monitoring of enclosure pressure, and the enclosure exhaust vent, which is an integrated part of the CYCLOPS's casing. Also standard are a maintenance switch, which allows power to be available to the electronics located in the monitored enclosure for maintenance or service and a power disconnect switch for applications where disconnecting power to the electronics located in the monitored enclosure would make for a more hazardous condition. The TRYCLOPS X - Purge Controller (XP Version) comes standard with a green and red LED visual indication for local evidence of enclosure purge pressure and dry-contact outputs for remote monitoring of enclosure pressure. Also standard are a maintenance switch, which allows power to be available to the electronics located in the monitored enclosure for maintenance or service and a power disconnect switch for applications where disconnecting power to the electronics located in the monitored enclosure would make for a more hazardous condition.
